In this video, I'm in Vada and Castiglioncello, hosted by Mattia and Pino, for a truly incredible Bolognese kayak fishing session. I didn't expect to encounter such powerful triggerfish, capable of seriously challenging both equipment and anglers! We fished using shrimp as bait, a very effective Bolognese fishing technique for this species. The baiting was done with a net containing crushed sardines and Altamarea groundbait balls, essential for attracting and retaining the fish in the fishing area. To target these fish, we used: ✅ Size 8 hook ✅ 0.20 leader ✅ Specialized glazing Glazing proved essential to avoid losing the triggerfish, which have extremely powerful mouthparts and can easily damage leaders and rigs.
