Tjan Yi Xuan - what are you laughing at!? (2025)

0:00 - start 3:43 - hehehe... what are you laughing at?! is an exploration of juxtaposing unrelated sounds to create new meanings that bear little relation to the “loaded meanings” attached to said sounds. Inspired by my tendency to giggle at the most random of situations and the theatricality of Minecraft, one of my favourite video games, this piece is a sonic Pandora’s box: dramatic expressions, sounds from the depths of the mind, and more… opened in multiple stages, revealing a bigger picture - a story, collection of memories, and a bittersweet moment - to be embraced at the ending. For God and my beloved family, who always bring about everlasting joy and moments of laughter through the times.
