CHEOPS, descubriendo y caracterizando exoplanetas

The CHEOPS satellite (Characterization of Exoplanets Satellite) aims to determine the size of known exoplanets, which will allow scientists to estimate their mass, density, and composition. Ignasi Ribas - Research Professor at the Institute of Space Sciences of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) Ignasi Ribas holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Barcelona and is currently a research professor at the Institute of Space Sciences of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). From 2017 to 2025, he was the director of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC). His research focuses on the discovery and characterization of exoplanets, particularly those similar to Earth, in the search for future life. He holds senior responsibilities in various space missions, including CHEOPS, and astronomical instruments, and he coordinates the development of nanosatellite projects. He has published over 500 research articles in high-impact international journals. She received the 2018 "Ciutat de Barcelona" Award in Experimental Sciences and Technology. Asteroid 667531 Ignasiribas is named after her. Diana de Miguel - R&D Coordinator at Airbus Space Spain Diana de Miguel graduated in Astrophysics from the Complutense University of Madrid. Since then, she has worked on several European Space Agency (ESA) astronomy and Earth observation space missions in the areas of image and science data analysis and post-processing (GAIA, SMOS, SEOSAT-Ingenio) and in the area of embedded software and satellite operations for the CHEOPS mission, where she co-led the LEOP phase and coordinated the in-orbit commissioning. She currently coordinates R&D activities for Airbus Space Spain.
