TEST BMW S1000R 2026: Folle, eccessiva, inutile! La miglior supernaked che possiate comprare?

In recent years, when it comes to supernaked BMWs, there's been a small problem: the S1000R has been somewhat overshadowed by its beefier sibling, the M1000R—the one with wings and the RR engine, which goes around reminding everyone that it costs as much as a car, and on the track can go nearly as fast as a supersport bike. So, when you find a 210-horsepower naked bike for €30,000 in the BMW price list, a "simple" S1000R with 170 horsepower for less than €20,000 risks seeming like a quiet, low-profile option. It's just a shame that the quiet, low-profile S1000R isn't at all. Because it's true that it has a good 40 horsepower less than the M, but the maximum torque is 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm. In other words: practically the same maximum torque as the M1000R (in fact, 1Nm more...), but available about 2,000 rpm earlier. And when it comes to road use, this matters much more than the spec sheets suggest. Otherwise, it's a little less extreme, a little less demanding, and, at least on paper, it seems to have everything you'd expect from a modern supernaked, without falling into the race for carbon fiber, aerodynamic wings, and performance that on the road you can exploit more or less like a MotoGP bike in the Esselunga parking lot. But let's get to the point: we tested the version of the S1000R equipped with DDC semi-active suspension and a few other interesting options (first and foremost, the exhilarating Dynamic Pro mode), which boost the price from €17,000 for the base version to €20,190 for the model we tested. So the question is: without the excesses (and costs) of current hypernakeds like the M1000R, Streetfighter V4S, or 1390 Super Duke RR, is the BMW S1000R perhaps the most sensible supernaked you can buy today? Well, that's what our Aigor (https://bit.ly/InstagramAigor) tried to find out, and in this video he tells us about his life with the S1000R for a couple of weeks.
