Basarat aur Baseerat - Saba Akbarabadi (1974)

Saba Akbarabadi (1908-91) reciting three rubayis, one salam, and his marsiya Basarat aur Baseerat at Dr. Yawar Abbas's home in 1974. Saba sahib excelled in every genre he touched, most renowned for his ghazals and marsiyas. Both his ghazals and marsiyas are ranked among the finest poetic works in Urdu, and especially among the poets of Karachi. He was a student of Akhzar Akbarabadi and was a recognized poet in Agra prior to Partition. He edited the journal Mashwara and was regularly invited to musalmas in the city. His ghazals are regularly performed, and his marsiyas were published in three editions: Sar Bakaf, Shahadat, and Khoonaab. Recorded by Ali Ghazanfar Jaffery (Badshah Ali)
