Kenan Balcı, who has been in the fishing industry for over 50 years, began his love of the sea at a young age. Balcı worked for free in the Kadıköy market until his clothes smelled of fish, and says his mother constantly beat him for it. "They gave me a lot of work, but I couldn't do any of it, so I became a fisherman," says Balcı. Today, he sells fish sandwiches to 1,000 people a day at three branches in Beylikdüzü.
