Actor Takeru Sato appeared at the opening day stage greeting for his starring film "Rurouni Kenshin: The Final" (directed by Keishi Otomo, released April 23rd) in Tokyo on April 23rd, along with co-stars Emi Takei, Mackenyu Arata, Munetaka Aoki, Yu Aoi, Yosuke Eguchi, and director Otomo. "Rurouni Kenshin" is a popular manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki that depicts the life of Kenshin, feared as the Battousai assassin during the late Edo period, as he seeks to live in a new era as a wandering samurai ("Rurouni") who has sworn not to kill after the Meiji Restoration. It was serialized in the manga magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1994 to 1999 and was adapted into an animated television series. Three live-action films have been released so far: "Rurouni Kenshin," "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno," and "Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends." The final chapter will tell the story of Kenshin's battle against the "mystery of his cross-shaped scar" and the "series' most fearsome enemy," Yukishiro Enishi, a mysterious arms dealer who controls the underworld of mainland China and who manipulates Shishio Makoto, through two time periods: the turbulent end of the Edo period and the new era following the Meiji Restoration. The final chapter, "The Beginning," will be released on June 4th.
