Why Men Sometimes Need Space

Men and women think, feel and process VERY differently from one another. When your husband says he doesn't know what he thinks/feels or he goes off by himself after a difficult conversation (that you don't think is over yet) - he may be trying to have some time alone to process his thoughts and feelings. Not all men need this time to think. But some men do. (Some women, do, as well.) He may not process highly emotionally charged issues with words. He may think in pictures, concepts or in terms of an equation - before he really knows what he wants to do, what he thinks and how he feels about an important issue. Only after he processes the information by himself for awhile can he be ready to talk about it with you.
