Pom Pom Island Coral Restoration

The Tropical Research and Conservation Centre (TRACC) is a marine conservation organisation based in the Celebes Sea, dedicated to protecting sea turtles and restoring coral reefs destroyed by local fish bombing practices. TRACC develops and carries out numerous marine conservation projects, most notably coral reef restoration. Over more than 12 years, TRACC has planted many coral fragments, drastically improving the damaged reefs of Pom Pom Island and employing numerous methods along the way. TRACC works with volunteers from around the world to turn these projects into reality. It runs a number of other projects, ranging from invertebrates to marine reptiles and megafauna. This video presents an underwater view of the coral reef ecosystem at Pom Pom Island, showing the benthic coral reef community and associated organisms, as well as the TRACC restoration site, recorded during our visit to its centre.
