Thank you for watching. Today, June 2nd, is my birthday. On this special day, I wanted to share with you all the wonderful music of pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, "Even So, I Will Live On." Mr. Tsujii, despite being blind, possesses immeasurable talent, and his heartfelt performances have empowered many people. I was deeply moved when I happened to see him on television, performing this song with tears in his eyes. This is because a boy who was completely blind once attended my piano lessons. From the time he joined at age three until he graduated from school for the blind, we worked together, diligently studying piano, singing, and Braille music notation. Braille music notation was a new challenge for me as well, but the days I spent arranging songs to make them easier for him to play—those efforts are still fondly remembered and a great source of pride for me. My own experience of suffering a life-threatening injury as a child, and my cherished memories with my students, resonated deeply with Ms. Tsujii's tears, and I understood her pain profoundly. This song begins quietly in A minor (amoll) and beautifully transitions to A major (adur) in the second half. It's like a ray of light, a promise that even the most difficult and painful life will inevitably lead to a brighter future. I hope that as you listen to Ms. Tsujii's beautiful melody, you will gently reflect on your own life journeys and cherished memories. Please enjoy listening to the end.
