The mayor of Resistencia, Roy Nikisch, toured the paving project on Islas Malvinas and Soberanía Nacional avenues with the governor of Chaco, Leandro Zdero. This project is one of the most significant urban development initiatives undertaken by both administrations. “The most important thing is the collaborative work that has been carried out over these past two and a half years. We have already worked together on several projects,” he said. He added, “We discussed work on other avenues and other issues that need to be addressed regarding drainage, because all the projects being carried out include drainage systems, in order to avoid creating further problems for residents.” “So, in this case, I believe we are simply fulfilling what is, or should be, normal: that the provincial government and the municipalities work together,” he reflected. He also expressed his hope that “El Niño (the weather phenomenon) won't affect us too much and that we can finish the pothole repairs in September or October and begin the resurfacing, which is the most important part.” He acknowledged that this work is causing inconvenience to both residents and drivers. “But this inconvenience will far outweigh the cost of a traffic system that was already complicated and complex, known only to local residents, and anyone who dared to enter this area certainly ran a serious risk of having an accident,” he stated.
