CN Action in Griffith, IN w, EJ&E and Iowa Northern GP38-2 leaders 06/05/26

I decided to head Indiana for the weekend and decided to stop in Griffith, IN at the junction of the CN Matteson sub and the CN South Bend sub on the way to Elkhart, IN. Since the junction is not far South of the main CN freight yard in the Chicago area in Gary (Kirk Yard) there's usually a good amount of mixed manifest traffic heading to Canada or parts of the Midwest. While any train here can have decent power usually the locals to various CN yards in the area have really good power and this visit was no different. The first train I saw, L515 to Homewood, had a zebra striped SD40-2W plus another SD40-2W and a IC GP38-2. The L521 to Joliet had a Iowa Northern GP38-2 leading a CN paint GRW GP38-2 and the return trip of the L515 had a EJ&E GP38-2, IC GP40R, CN GP40-2LW, and a BLE SD45T-2. While the locals had great power a couple of the regular trains had good power. A track evaluation train and a mixed manifest had SD70I leaders and a intermodal from Canada had a SD70M-2 leader.
