[Anchor] Discussions are ongoing regarding who should be included if the electoral college for the President of the Korea Football Association is expanded. [Reporter] It is reported that the Football Association has submitted a plan to the K-Football Innovation Committee to increase the size of the electoral college from approximately 100 to 300 members to around 3,000. However, some members of the Innovation Committee believe that further expansion of the electoral college is necessary to reflect the broader public opinion of the football community. Voices are being raised that, in keeping with the meaning of fostering grassroots football that the Association has emphasized, voting rights should be significantly increased not only for teams in the K5, K6, and K7 leagues—which are mainly composed of "early morning football" enthusiasts—but also for university league players and football administration staff. While the existing electoral college includes 20 amateur soccer enthusiasts, considering the expanded size of the college, voting rights could be granted to one representative from each of the 969 teams across the three leagues of K5 to K7. Another official stated that, although specific leagues were not mentioned, there were many opinions suggesting that the size of the electoral college be increased. It has been understood that some envision a plan to broaden the scope of delegates in proportion to the dramatic increase in the size of the electoral college. Although specific methods were not mentioned, the overhaul of basic verification procedures, such as the identity and qualifications of the electoral college members, is considered a mandatory condition. Previously, the Korea Sports Council limited voting rights to athletes who participated in events such as the National Sports Festival, thereby adjusting the weight of officials and referees, whose representation had been relatively low. Discussions to minimize the increase in costs resulting from the expansion of the electoral college are also expected to continue during the remaining period.
