Industrial Policy for Inclusive Growth: Experiences from South Africa and China

The launch of the OR Tambo School of Leadership's Economic Policy Masterclass Series, focusing on Industrial Policy, drew lessons from South Africa and China. While the South African perspective was presented by Cde Sihle Zikalala, who is the Minister of Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure and the Deputy Chairperson of the ANC's Economic Transformation Committee, the Peking University Professor, Huang Yipping, unpacked the Chinese experience. Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies' (TIPS) senior economist, Dr Neva Makgetla, responded to the two keynote addresses by Cde Zikalala and Prof Yipping. Her impeccable response was followed by a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Ms Standiwe Msomi, who also facilitated a general discussion by the audience.
