REISSUE: "El Watusi / La Bamba" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Rags and Riches Rags and Riches is a disco project from producers Vinny DePaola and Bobby Ragona released in 1983 on Casablanca Records. This outline is the dances of the past and outlining two of the most memorable numbers with a Latin flair. “El Watusi” originally released by Ray Barretto and the Ritchie Valens rock classic, “La Bamba” are segued in this medley with a few clever segements added to make this one sound like an instant festival. The spoken words are provided by Barbara Norris and vocals from Chaz Jones in this powerhouse medley of memories. I have taken the EP version of “El Watusi – La Bamba” and placed the celebration into a new form for this ReStructure Mix. More of those percussion tracks are extended to create a segue into the power of each of these tracks.
