Inside The Chicks’ SCANDAL in 2003 and Their GRAMMYs Comeback
The Chicks sparked controversy in 2003 and ET is looking back at the ensuing cultural fallout, as well as the country music trio’s GRAMMYs comeback. Following lead singer Natalie Maine’s criticism of then President Bush and the U.S.’s invasion of Iraq, the group endured backlash from the music industry and their once loyal fan base. Fast forward to 2007, the ‘Not Ready to Make Nice’ singers won five out of five GRAMMY awards. In an interview backstage with ET, The Chicks shared their emotional reaction and explained why the moment didn't necessarily feel like ‘vindication’ after the scandal.
