Rencontre avec Michel Bassompierre - Exposition "Fragiles colosses"

A unique encounter between animal sculptor Michel Bassompierre, Nicolas Hulot, and primatologist Sabrina Krief, as part of the sculpture exhibition "Fragile Colossi," currently on display at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris until October 18, 2021. Michel Bassompierre is one of the most important artists in the field of animal sculpture today. Over his 50-year career, he has infused the discipline with a resolutely contemporary style, instantly recognizable. His captivating and engaging work has traveled the world, unleashing his menagerie of marble and bronze sculptures across the globe. The western gorilla and the polar bear are endangered species in the near future. As for the brown bear, although also protected, only a few individuals remain in France. Their habitats, forests and ice floes, are threatened by the pressures of climate change and human activity. With the extinction of these fragile giants, the thousands of plant and animal species in their ecosystems are also at risk.
