Starting a Vineyard Part 9 Pinching and picking buds ready for summer Year 2
Spring has arrived and it's time we started picking or pinching the buds from our vines ready for summer. These vines are now exactly 1 year old. We need to pinch out some of the lower buds so all the root energy goes into developing the top buds of our vines. They have survived winter and they are now waking up quickly with the warm spring weather. If we are to avoid any harsh frosts then we should be fine. That said, harsh frosts tend to affect the flowering stage of plants not so much the budding, but we keep our fingers crossed anyway. Nipping the buds off the lower parts of the main stem can be done any time from now up until early summer, but go they must, otherwise we will get a vine that becomes out of control. In this video I show you how I do my vines after exactly 1 year in the ground. If you want to see my other channel that is completely unrelated to this one then you can do so on this link: / @talkingmoney5990 Music by : www.bensound.com
