Coleshill Walk: Town Centre【4K】

Located in the county of Warwickshire, and around eight miles east of central Birmingham, is the town of Coleshill. Geographically, Coleshill is situated on a ridge between the rivers Cole and Blythe which converge to the north with the River Tame. A market charter was granted to Coleshill in 1207 by King John. At the heart of the town is the Church of St Peter and St Paul. This dates back to the 14th century, with additions from the 15th century, and some 19th century restoration including the rebuilding of the spire. At a height of 52 metres (171 ft), it is one of the tallest churches in Warwickshire. Prior to the railway era, Coleshill had a thriving coaching inn industry on account of its geographic location on the London to Holyhead route. Various pubs on the High Street were once coaching inns, such as The Coleshill Hotel, The Swan Hotel and The Green Man - all of which feature in this walk. In 1839 the railway arrived in Coleshill with the opening of the first of several stations that once stood in the vicinity of the town centre. By the late 1960s all stations had closed. However, since 2007, Coleshill Parkway station has served the town.
