Terni - Cosa vedere in un giorno (2025) 🇮🇹
Hello, welcome to the channel 🤗 Today we're taking you on a tour of the city of Terni. We're in front of the train station, where the gigantic and imposing 12,000-ton industrial press stands. It was used from 1935 to 1993 by the Società delle Fucine and since 1999 has become a monument to industry, a symbol of local identity. 🔥 Having worked in a forge for more than 40 years, seeing such an impressive facility up close is still a thrill. Countless memories resurface, and now, free from all work-related issues, with a clear mind, drawing a line, I can only be proud of my career, of what I've achieved even without years of study, but by learning on the job day after day and never giving up. 💪 Near the Corso del Popolo parking lot where we parked our car, in the center of a roundabout we see the monument "La Lancia di Luce." The work took ten years to complete, from 1985 to 1995. 🔆 We continue our visit to the city center, where in Piazza Duomo we find the cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. The building's façade, clad in an elegant white limestone veneer, is distinguished by a large portico with a double row of columns, opening onto three Romanesque-style portals. ⛪️ Adjacent to the Duomo is the Roman Amphitheater, one of the city's most prominent monuments. It is older than the Colosseum in Rome, having been built under the Emperor Tiberius, approximately 30 or 32 AD. Today, the Roman Amphitheater is used during the summer as a venue for live performances and an open-air cinema, as well as being a popular destination for visitors due to its historical significance. 🏛️ A friendly journalist from the UmbriaON newspaper joined us in Piazza Duomo and kindly tagged us, describing us as "Exceptional Creators"—so kind! 😁 Here's their website link and Instagram account: 👇 https://www.umbriaon.it / umbriaon https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLuX8Z... Continuing along Corso del Popolo, after about 200 meters, you'll see the majestic headquarters of Terni's Town Hall, Palazzo Spada. Commissioned by Michelangelo Spada, it originally consisted of two buildings, then joined in the 18th century following a radical renovation that gave the building its current form. The façade, like the rest of the structure, appears bare and "scratched," meaning it lacks the layer of plaster that originally covered the building. This gives it an even more imposing and austere appearance. ☺️ Another gem of Terni is the church of San Salvatore, located in the square of the same name, a short distance from Palazzo Spada, the town hall. This is one of the oldest religious buildings in Terni, certainly the most evocative, with origins dating back to the early Middle Ages. 🏰 Cesare Bazzani designed the Palazzo del Governo (Government Palace) (1930), which overlooks Viale della Stazione. A lover of classical forms, he is one of the great architects who shaped the modern image of Terni. This is our last visit of the day: the Basilica of Saint Valentine, yes! ❤️ The patron saint of lovers, celebrated worldwide on February 14th, was the bishop of Terni. The basilica stands just outside the historic center, on the site of an ancient Christian cemetery where Valentine himself, the city's first bishop and martyr who lived in the 3rd century AD, was buried. ⛪️ History has it that before his arrest, Valentine had officiated a very special ceremony, a marriage between a Christian woman and a pagan man, strictly forbidden both by law and by religion. And after being arrested for influencing young people to convert to Christianity, Valentine was martyred by secret beheading along the Via Flaminia, near Rome. 😳 Beneath the main altar, you can see the glass case containing the reliquary statue of the saint, and it is here where pilgrims and lovers come every year to pray before the urn. Terni has an extraordinary connection with Saint Valentine, so much so that it is his patron saint. And if the message of love, in the fullness of its meaning, that he left us has universal value, this city has embraced it and made it its own. ❤️ The day isn't over yet. About forty kilometers away, we arrive in Giove, an ancient medieval village. Here on this wonderful terrace with its unique setting, the rock singer of the band The Calling, the famous ALEX BAND, will perform this evening. 🎶 Stay tuned because in the next video you'll see Umbria's most beautiful jewel, a marvel 🤩 ‼️ For all other social media, you can find me on my landing page 👇 https://linktr.ee/viacoltubo_
