Oil Pastel Pop Art Painting

Bright, simplistic, and modern, Pop Art was a movement that took the most mundane and unassuming of subject matter and dialed it up to an “11”. Portraiture, on the other hand, tends to evoke thoughts of the classic, Renaissance-style works; dark underpaintings with dozens of methodically glazed layers. This fun demo brightens up the boredom of portraiture and brings a Warhol/Lichtenstein style out to play, while using the unexpectedly loose and fun Water-Soluble Oil Pastels to execute the portrait work! Oil Pastel are chock full of pigment and therefore a good choice for this fun pop art painting. In this Jerry's Live re-run Amy is using Mungyo Water-Soluble Oil Pastels. Artists find these Mungyo Oil Pastels exquisitely soft and buttery and marvel at how easily they can be blended with fingers, tortillions or stomps. Pastels can be layered dry or wet to develop almost any combination of effects! Add a brush and water to blend or thin beautifully, and achieve watercolor painting effects! You can also use wet by dipping the pastel into the water first and then apply to the surface.
