Testing an electric spark pencil made from readily available materials, easy to manufacture, and reliable in operation. Various methods for powering the electric spark pencil are shown. Materials used: VVG3 wire x 1.5–1.6 m (three of the five strands were used), 150 mm ¼-inch (6.35 x 0.76) copper air conditioner pipe (a piece of pipe can be found at split-system installers), Kapton tape (regular tape can be used), foil-clad fiberglass (25 x 50 x 2 mm), 2 150 mm nails, solder (POS-61), flux (LTI-120, soldering acid – for soldering the wire to the steel core), 1 M5 x 30 screw, flexible cable – 0.2 m. Tools: A screwdriver, drill bits (1.5, 3.0, 6.6), angle grinder (optional), hacksaw, hammer, file, knife, ruler, calipers, soldering iron, vise, and pliers.
