Wind River Range and Tetons come in sight - Great Divide Northbound - Bikepacking Day 29+30

Day 29+30 (June 29): Hello Pinedale! What a sweet ride from Atlantic City: 85 miles, 3600 feet of climbing, wonderful mountain views, sunny weather, not-so-bad headwinds, and amazing rest day in Pinedale. What more could one wish for? 🙏🍻 The day starts of with a real treat: After a few miles, we roll into Historic South Pass City and take the time to visit the "living museum". We learn that South Pass City was once a bustling with gold prospectors and served as a stage and telegraph station on the Oregon Trail. Even Mark Twain passed though here in 1861! And, it's a major site for women's rights: in 1869, Esther Hobart Morris came to South Pass - she became the first woman in the United States to serve as a Justice of the Peace: At her urging in 1869, William H. Bright introduced a women's suffrage clause into the territorial constitution, which was approved in 1869 - and Wyoming became the first jurisdiction in the US to grant women the right to vote (a right which was not granted women nationally until 1920)!👏 The ride to Pinedale is beautiful - views of the Wind River range and the Tetons coming into sight, green ranch land, rivers, creeks, flower meadows and soft rolling hills! And, we are already used to the headwinds in Wyoming... We take the time to check out Pinedale and really liked it: It has a real Wild West feel to it, people are incredibly friendly, there are several great restaurants including a vibrant brewery. We like the IPA a lot 😜 We visit the museum of the mountain man and get to understand the beginning of the fur trade and pioneering of the American West a lot better! It feels good to not only ride through beautiful wilderness, but also spend time in small towns and learn about their history. .
