This is a hexagonal box made with origami paper. It's a cute box with a peony flower blooming in the center. Cut a single piece of origami paper in half and use each half to make the lid and the body of the box. Changing the length-to-width ratio of the rectangular piece of paper will change the height and width of the box. Here, I'm particular about making it from a single piece of origami paper, so I've used a length-to-width ratio of 1:2. I adjusted the width of the lid's adhesive tab so that it closes properly. The difficult part is twisting and tilting the hexagonal tube to create a flat hexagon. The trick is to keep the apex of the hexagonal tube on the outside and bring it closer to the center like a drawstring bag, then tilt it over rather than twisting it forcefully, expanding the hexagon spreading out from the center. Note that the twisting directions for the lid and the body of the box are opposite. The lid will be particularly difficult. The lid's glue tab has been shortened, and the corner of the paper closest to the overlapping piece has been folded inward, leaving a small notch in the hexagon, so be careful not to separate the paper as you fold it down. The lid will be folded into a flat hexagon while floating above the surface of the table, so ultimately you should be able to unfold it by pulling out the hexagon that spreads out from the center. When folding the lid decorations, be careful not to push the edge of the shortened glue tab underneath. If the edge is pushed underneath, the back of the origami paper will show when the twisted flower transforms into a peony. At first, it will be difficult to use small paper, so it's a good idea to practice using paper cut out of a larger piece of paper in a 1:2 ratio.
