The auxiliary yarn should be a contrasting color, the same thickness, and nap-free. Cast on the stitches with auxiliary yarn. With the yarn from the garment, purl the first row. Continue knitting normally. Once the garment is finished, using a fine needle (it makes the task easier) and looking at the wrong side of the garment, pick up the stitches in the same color as the garment, from back to front. The stitches are arranged. Remove the auxiliary yarn. With the yarn from the garment, cast off the chain on the right side. With a crochet hook, single crochet, taking half of the chain from the cast-off stitch. At the same time, leaving the other half of the chain free, single crochet between stitches. This creates a braid. This chain reinforcement can be made in different colors and materials and finishes the garment beautifully. It's a nice touch.
