Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), utilizing nanoprobes (needles), can image shapes and thicknesses at the nanometer scale by measuring and controlling the forces between surface atoms and the probe. Furthermore, the tip of the AFM probe can be applied to nano-optics, which measures optical phenomena occurring at the nanoscale through interaction with light, and to non-invasive elastography, which determines the hardness of biological samples. This lecture introduces the operating principles of AFM and explains the latest results in nano-optics and bio-measurements utilizing it. Additionally, it received significant interest and positive feedback from attendees by introducing materials that can enhance their understanding and interest in nanoscience research and assist students in their career choices.
