The Prophet's biography is an independent source from the Quran and Sunnah. It is the only infallible practical application by the infallible Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, of the infallible Book. There is a difference between knowledge and application. Reality deals with different worlds (4 worlds) that are intertwined, overlapping, relative, evolving, and declining. So how does a person apply that absolute (the Quran) and analyze, prohibit, encourage, and forbid in the relative reality of people? The reality of life represents many waves, so how does one swim? Swimming in the sea practically is different from theoretical lessons. This is where the Prophet's biography comes in. While the Prophetic hadith is the saying, action, approval, and description issued by the infallible one, peace and blessings be upon him, it does not speak about relationships, how he, peace and blessings be upon him, treated his family, and how The Prophet's dealings with Muslims and non-Muslims alike, in all aspects of life, how he fought, how he made covenants, and how he was the perfect example for humanity in every facet of reality. The biography (Sira) is the science that conveys to us how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) interacted with reality. It is the only infallible application of the Holy Quran, the divine statement conveyed through the hand, tongue, and actions of the one who received the two revelations. It is not merely a collection of events (it requires delving into its depths).
