JBL L88 Plus Conversion to a JBL L100 Century (2nd Version)

A Customer contacted me a few years ago and asked me if I would be able to restore and convert a pair of JBL L88 Plus Speakers into an L100. After doing some research, I told him yes, but it would be a lot of work and sourcing of parts and materials to get them to look and essentially become authentic L100's. Since the original conversion parts (M12 Kits) are no longer available, I needed to get new Foilcal Labels, Find working LE5 Mids and Rebuild the Crossovers from scratch. He Purchased the L88's for about $600-700, Paid about $400-500 in parts and materials and my labor charge which is normally about $800 to do this kind of restoration. (He received a substantial discount because of referrals and because I consider him a friend) Ultimately, The opportunity to do a video like this was what enticed me to agree to the project. So if you decide to convert a set of L88 Plus's to an L100, take all of this into consideration. Was it worth the time, effort and money?....Maybe. He was happy with the outcome but would probably break even if he decided to sell them.
