Dog Hiking Gear Review, Hot Tent Camping & Hiking with a Dog in Kurjenrahka National Park – Mires and Old Forests! 🐾 Join us for a weekend adventure in Kurjenrahka National Park in Finland, where we hiked with our hiking dog, Hiking Poodle Topi, through vast mires and old-growth forests. We camped in a cozy hot tent with a wood stove and cooked our meals both inside on the stove and outside over an open fire. And of course, we explored the surrounding nature. We’ve received many questions about Topi’s hiking and camping gear, so in this video, we’re also sharing a detailed gear review. We go through the essentials for a small, cold-sensitive dog like Topi—and many of these tips are also helpful for larger or hardier dogs. We’ll show you his outdoor clothing, booties, sleeping setup (dog sleeping bag and pad), hiking harness, leash system, and food gear. We didn’t cover our dog’s first aid kit in this video (although we always carry one), so maybe that’s a topic for a future video! Hiking Poodle Topi once again loved this outdoor adventure, all the company, and the tasty trail snacks. We filmed during Laskiainen (Finnish version of Shrovetide or Pancake Day - a winter celebration with sledding and sweet buns). Do you think Topi got to enjoy a traditional Finnish cream bun too? This trip wasn’t without its challenges: the Kurjenrahka campsite turned out to be quite restless, keeping all of us awake the first night, while Topi stayed on alert and guarded the tent. We hiked the Savojärvi Trail (with mires and lakeside views) and the Karpalopolku Trail (through old forest and mires), staying overnight at the Kurjenpesä tenting area.
