RAM 2500 Power Wagon Sway Bar Disconnect Explained | Why It Improves OFF-ROAD Performance
I explain why the Sway Bar Disconnected in my RAM 2500 Power Wagon helps to improve the trucks off road performance. I explained how the sway disconnect works, how to use it properly and show you the difference in articulation with the sway disconnected vs connected. I hope everyone had a good week! I wanted to do a video about this power wagons disconnecting sway bar because I feel like some folks aren't really sure what that means and why a disconnecting sway bar is beneficial when off road. so for beginners a sway bar is used to help on road performance. it helps to minimize body roll and control on road. now when going off road this sway bar actually hinder your 4wd off road performance. it will prevent wheels from naturally articulation fully. now wheel articulation is important because it allows your wheels to contour the off road terrain as much as possible and give you as much wheel grip as possible. so having the ability to disconnect the sway bar allows the RAM 2500 power wagon to again more articulation and therefore gain more traction off road giving you a better experience! So the disconnecting process is pretty simple. there is a sliding clutch and allows the sway bar to either be fully connected and act as one unit or slide fully over and allows the sway bar ends to act completely independent. Now on TFL truck they had a hard time trying to disconnect the sway bar on the power wagon. However, I show you that it really is not that hard. the best way to disconnect the sway bar is to roll the vehicle in drive on a flatter surface and roll over a little bit of uneven terrain to relieve the sway bar of any torque and thus allowing the clutch to slide over. now as you guys saw in my demonstration with the sway bar disconnected the RAM 2500 power wagon had more wheel articulation and therefore more off road ability. hope you guys liked the video!
