In 1905, Theosophists Annie Besant and Charles Leadbeater published Thought-Forms, showing how thoughts and feelings appear to clairvoyant vision. These striking and colorful images became an inspiration for early 20th-century painters and have frequently appeared in exhibitions devoted to the spiritual in art. Yet behind them is a rich occult lore that touches on many aspects of Theosophical teaching, from dreams to karma, higher planes, and beings, to the “hidden side” of everyday life. Boston-based author and composer Kurt Leland is a national lecturer for the Theosophical Society in America and an international lecturer for the Theosophical Society (Adyar).
