Rafelrand met negen levens: De Strijd om de Havenstraat aflevering 2

Over the next two weeks, the ups and downs of the Havenstraat site, the last remaining fringe of Oud-Zuid, will be the focus of the five-part documentary series, "The Battle for Havenstraat." The fringe behind the Haarlemmermeer station has a storied history. For half a century, it has been threatened with being swallowed up by the growing city, but it's still there. Until now, it seems. AT5 follows the final phase of the site and its residents. In episode 1, we meet several veterans of the site. Arthur van Oest, for example, a special effects pioneer who worked for directors like Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan. Or Lou Hermanides, whose warehouse also serves as the clubhouse for Keep them Rolling, the organization that keeps old Allied military vehicles running. And then there's Remy Reyers, who has lived on the site for 25 years and sees his home and health threatened by the municipality's new construction plans. An Asterix and Obelix village, a phoenix that always rises from the ashes. Jos Rees, chairman of the site's advocacy group, has often seen his beloved spot escape destruction. Five years ago, the Museum Tram Line managed to thwart the construction plans through the courts. Could such a scenario now repeat itself with its neighbor, The British School, appealing to the Council of State? A series by Ronald Olsthoorn (direction and editing), Luuk Koenen (camera), Koen Koster (editing), and Ilonka Klok (production). ❌ ❌ ❌ AT5 - Real Amsterdam News Subscribe to our YouTube channel here:    / at5   Tips or comments?
