Bad Saxophone Sound? Do THIS!

How to get a full saxophone sound? How do I fix my bad saxophone tone? What is the correct saxophone embouchure? How do I stop my saxophone from squeaking? How to use voicing on saxophone? How do I practice my saxophone sound? How to sound better on the saxophone? Questions often asked by my students (and really good for search engine optimization, not going to lie...) Developing your saxophone sound is a process that takes years of practice and experimenting. Your saxophone tone is key to your identity as a saxophone player, and being able to control your sound - from air support, breathing, embouchure formation, tongue position, voicing and more - is a lifelong journey. It's not a one size fits all approach, and I've tried to show the variables that you need to experiment with in order to find what works for you. I can also highly recommend Dave Liebman's video "Developing A Personal Saxophone Sound" - some of the greatest advice out there. And Joe Allard, another greatly influential saxophone teacher, is worth looking into. I love hearing from people with different approaches than myself, and I learn something new all the time - so please jump in the comments and give me your two cents on saxophone sound. 00:00 Introduction 02:01 Air support 02:58 Breathing exercises 04:30 Embouchure 06:27 Relieving tension 10:50 Tongue position 12:20 Tonguing 13:03 Voicing 16:41 Outro 🎧 Listen to my new album! https://li.sten.to/pq5p0dxq 🔔 Don’t forget to subscribe for more jazz content and saxophone lessons!
