Disassembling a 1980 Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub with drum brake
In this video I have a look inside a 1980 Sturmey Archer 3 speed internal gear hub. That came from an old Gazelle donor bicycle, that I scraped last month. It's an AB model not the more common AW model, but it's basically the same useless wide spaced gearing. Because the shifter mechanism was broken, it was only used in second gear, So the hub had not been shifting for probably many years. I though it would be a good idea to have a look inside. Clean everything up and use some fresh grease. Or perhaps use some oil instead of rather thick grease. I am planning to install this wheel in the vintage Gazelle 3 speed bicycle I inherited from my uncle. A classic model with rod brakes from the early nineties. The hub came from this bicycle: https://photos.app.goo.gl/zRiYnikexpN... (my Google pictures page)
