#KEYCLOAK DevDay 2026: How to apply Keycloak to AI agents/Agent AI - Updates and future plans

One of the major features of AI Agent/Agentic AI is that it can be integrated with various external tools, enabling it to achieve things that were not possible with conventional AI applications that only used LLM. The de facto standard protocol used for this integration is #MCP. If this integration requires authorization, MCP states that authorization is performed by an OAuth 2.1 compliant authorization server. Therefore, if Keycloak complies with the authorization part of MCP, Keycloak can be used in the AI Agent/Agent AI field. This will benefit you because you can use Keycloak to enter the rapidly expanding market of AI agents/agent AI. Therefore, efforts to bring Keycloak into compliance with the authorization part of MCP began in April of this year and are ongoing. In this session, we will explain how well Keycloak complies with the authorization part of MCP, and how to cover the non-compliant portion so that Keycloak can be used as an authorization server for MCP. MCP is in development and future versions may change significantly. We would like to share with you how Keycloak will support new versions of MCP in the future by Keycloak's community efforts. Finally, we will use MCP Inspector, an official tool from the MCP project, to demonstrate that Keycloak can work as an authorization server for MCP. Audiences will know what to do when using Keycloak as an authentication server for MCP, and Keycloak's support plan for new versions of MCP by Keycloak's community efforts. Thanks for watching!
