10 Reasons DEACON is a Genius | FALLOUT 4

1 He protects the RR by changing his appearance We all know Deacon’s most prominent feature: his uncanny ability to change his appearance seemingly at will. You’re lucky I didn’t do a face swap (0:30) Whether its because he is hiding from you, or because he simply is travelling through an unfriendly area, Deacon always seems to know exactly what to wear to keep his friends, his secrets, and himself safe. He really saw the outfit system in new vegas and said “I’ll just do that”. I mean, do I really need to say more for this? If you work for a secret organization that requires secrecy, and you need to protect your identity, you should be committed to following through, and that means dressing up ARENT YOU A LITTLE SHORT FOR A STORMTROOPER?. It is a smart thing to do to change your appearance to blend in if your job is to collect information. 2 He has access to all the forbidden places As an extension of the last point, not only is he able to hide effectively, but he is also able to gain access to very exclusive places My job is to get information. Consider that when you find him pretending to be a caravanner, he blends in. The other caravanners don’t even notice him. You can’t even do that. Not enough? How about when he’s in the memory den? Its an exclusive establishment, you have to pass a speech check just to become a paying customer. yet there he is, using one of the loungers. Still not enough? Consider that on your first trip to diamond city, he is a member of the city watch, and they don’t seem to even notice him. If you try this in real life, and wore a police outfit around a bunch of cops, you’d be lucky to walk away at all MAAM PUT THE CAMERA AWAY GET THAT CAMERA OUT OF MY FACE Truly he is a master of infiltration. He could get in anywhere he wanted RAISED EYEBROWS MEME 3 He sees you for what you are One of the most open secrets in the game is that Deacon is following you around spying on you for the entire game. (4:30) From the vault entrance to diamond city to good neighbor to the Memory den to Bunker hill, once you know what to look out for, you can find Deacon observing you. I CANT BELIEVE YOU HAD ME FOLLOWED ANDOR The reason for this seems obvious. When you arrive at the RR and Deacon tells Desdemona about your exploits, you wonder “But how does he know all that” and here’s the answer. However, The question you should ask is Why? What makes him think that you are important enough to watch? INTERSTELLAR STAY SCENE He gives a little lip service about “being the eyes and ears for Desdemona” but he’s not out here watching everyone in the commonwealth now is he? He has to pick one person and track them. Deacon, unlike most NPCs in the game, both recognizes that you are the most powerful person around, and unlike many others, simply watches you and waits for his chance to become your companion. Now, almost everyone in the game wants something from you. This is a point Deacon actually points out to you, Recognise when youre being played (4:15) but While Father uses you as the subject of his experiments, and Preston tries to guilt you into doing his job for him, only Deacon is smart enough to realize that you are going to do exactly what you want, so he hangs around to learn about you before making his move to try and convince you to go with the RR. 4 He recognizes and talks about the problems with the RR I also want to point out that Deacon literally says all the things people say about the RR. I’ve been playing fallout 4 for 10 years now, and every few months or so, someone jumps on reddit and points out how stupid the RR is. Yet unlike with the other factions, the RR seems to be at least self aware, and none of them more so than Deacon. In fact, Deacon says most of that himself. Were not about saving the world. Too big a job 2:00 Now, you could point out that simply stating the problems with an organization or saying there aren’t answers is not the same as thinking of the answers. But I would then say that Deacon is merely a member of the RR. He might not have an answer to the problems we see in the game, but he certainly is smart enough to see the RR for the flawed organization it is. WHAT KIND OF PLACE IS THIS? And there you have it.
