Intergenerational Meeting Hatzfeld – July 24, 2026 | Gottlob – July 25, 2026 | Banat Swabians Join me on a moving journey through two unforgettable days in the Banat. My visit began in Hatzfeld, where I first visited the museum. There, I experienced an impressive presentation that brought history to life. The encounters with many people were particularly touching – including eyewitnesses who had personally experienced the events of 75 years ago. The official commemoration focused on remembering the deportation to the Bărăgan – a significant chapter in the history of the Banat Swabians that has not been forgotten to this day. Afterwards, I continued on to the German Forum Hatzfeld. During a shared meal, lively conversations, and spirited dance performances, it became clear how important community, tradition, and togetherness still are today. It was a wonderful opportunity to see old friends again and forge new friendships. On the way home, I stopped in Grabatz, where I was able to capture the special evening atmosphere of this historic town. The next day began early in the morning with Holy Mass in the church of Gottlob. There, the dance groups Lovriner Lilien and Banater Kranz met to celebrate this special day together. But it wasn't just the traditional costume groups that shaped the festival – numerous people from Gottlob and the surrounding villages also came to celebrate. Remembrance dances, warm encounters, and many joyful conversations made this weekend a truly special experience. Like every good festival, this one also came to an end – but the memories of these shared hours will last a long time, allowing us to exchange ideas and experience the vibrant culture of the Banat Swabians.
