After receiving a briefing on the project, Minister Uraloğlu met with workers and drove through the Dallıkavak Tunnel in a pickup truck carried by Governor Mustafa Çiftçi and AK Party Member of Parliament Selami Altınok. Minister Uraloğlu, who stated that the tunnel, which is currently under construction, will bypass a pass at an altitude of 2,349 meters, said: "The 3,105-meter-long tunnel, which bypasses the Dallıkavak Pass, will both ensure traffic safety and make snow and ice management easier in winter conditions. We've already driven through the tunnel. Excavation and support work is more or less complete. We have a little left to complete the final concrete lining. Winter conditions are currently allowing it. We're continuing our work. We can say we have no major problems. Our goal was to open it by the end of this year. However, sometimes unforeseen developments occur in the tunnel. A small cave-in occurred because we encountered unexpected ground. Thankfully, there were no casualties or injuries, but it did move us a little further. Hopefully, we will complete it and open it in the first half of 2026. We will make the Erzurum-Rize axis a little easier. Approximately 7,100 meters of broken "When we complete the tunnel, there will be not many obstacles in front of us, and with this 196-kilometer route, we will connect Erzurum to the Black Sea and Rize through the shortest route, the Ovit Pass, the Kırık Pass, and the Dallıkavak Pass," he said.
