Vaak presents a humble tribute to the musical genius MD Ramanathan on his centenary today. MDR who was known for his unshakeable kalapramanam and manodharma has forged his own path in the style of his guru Tiger Varadachariar. His recordings are immortal owing to the painstaking efforts of collectors and music enthusiasts. We offer one of his most iconic concerts today that was performed at The Music Academy, Madras in the year 1967 as part of the bicentennial celebration of Tyagaraja. All the songs sung in the concerts are compositions of Tyagaraja including the line chosen for the Pallavi in Begada.
