Return of the King | Mongoose XR Pro - Project XR | Trail Talk with KevCentral

The Mongoose XR Pro was the first best Walmart bike. A bike many (including myself) could be used on an actual mountain bike trail. Over time, I made my first Project bike, Project XR, out of the XR Pro. Since Project XR really kicked off what has become a regular part of KevCentral, I hold a fondness for the XR Pro. Admittedly, it's not a bike that fits me or my riding as well as other bikes, but I saw the potential it held. Countless riders have been on this bike, and they all have been impressed with what I made from a Walmart bike. Today, I'm revisiting the XR Pro / Project XR to discuss my opinions on it's ride, how it has aged, and 3-years later if I've had any issues or desires for another configuration.
