After 4 Years in the Philippines... I Finally Understood Retirement
Four years ago, I left Pennsylvania and retired to the Philippines on nothing more than a $1,847 Social Security check. Like most people, I thought the biggest benefit would be the lower cost of living. I was wrong. The cheap rent, fresh food, warm weather, and slower pace are wonderful—but none of those became the best part of retirement. It took me nearly a year and a half living in Dumaguete before I realized what I'd actually gained. And once I understood it, it completely changed how I looked at retirement, work, and life itself. In this video, I share my real monthly budget, why I chose the Philippines, what daily life is actually like, and the unexpected lesson that finally made me feel retired for the first time. If you're thinking about retiring abroad, living on Social Security, or simply wondering whether there's a better way to spend the years you've worked so hard for, I hope this story helps.
