I offer you a trip to the Rock Monastery in the village of Rukomysh, Buchach district, Ternopil region, which is located on the steep right bank of the Strypa River and was founded in the 13th century, approximately in 1240, by monks from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, who were fleeing from Kievan Rus from the Tatar-Mongol invasion. To this day, a carved cave temple has been preserved in the rock called “God's Mushroom”, occupying an area of ​​up to 25 sq. m. This monastery is located on the so-called "Travertine Rocks" and is part of a unique cave complex of sacred structures, which belongs to the archaeological monuments of Ukraine. Scientists suggest that the caves in the rocks are the oldest monuments of Christianity in Podillia. Some people note that in this holy place you can feel a powerful energy coming from under the ground. Near the monastery, on the rocks under the influence of sunlight, the image of Jesus Christ not made by hands is clearly visible. We will also visit the Church of St. Onuphrius with the sculpture of St. Onuphrius by the famous Galician master of the 18th century - Johann Georg Pinzel, the source of his name and travertine rocks Rukomysh is sometimes also called the Ukrainian Lourdes.
