Restored Railroad: Fletcher Granite Railroad Westford, MA - 2/2022

After a few years of no use the Fletcher Granite line to the Pan Am Railways interchange was brush cut and reactivated. In late 2020 Fletcher Granite started to use the line again to receive incoming shipments of stone. The Fletcher Granite quarry receives a type of stone from Georgia they don't have themselves. This video shows the incoming loads being dropped off at the interchange by Pan Am Railways on 2/10/2022. The next day we see the Fletcher switcher grabbing the first load and bringing it back to the quarry. This engine was built in 1953 and has ever since been running at this quarry when needed. Until less than a decade ago the railroad also ran a shuttle from the quarry itself to the sawmill where the granite is cut. This part of the operation shut down but we were lucky to see this interchange move that only happens a few times a year on this restored line.
