Porcupine Tree - Heartattack in a Layby (All instrument cover w/ vox)

Here's a cover of Heartattack in a Layby, one of the mellower tunes from Porcupine Tree's classic 2002 record, In Absentia! This tune is a story of a mundane commute interrupted when death comes a-knocking, told with some really epic and haunting vocals. Very cool track! The reason I wanted to do this song is because I really struggle with vocals, and having been doing alot of work recently on getting more pitch accurate, I wanted to do a song that features vocals up front, has relatively simple melodies, and has vocal harmonies. This tune really fits that bill! While I suppose a good singer might have found this song easy to do right out of the gate, I had to do alot of prep singing the vocals along with playing the notes on keyboards, and in the process, correcting alot of notes that I initially wasn't hearing correctly! I still wound up tuning a large number of notes, but with a much better base performance with notes being mostly consistent pitches, the tuning actually made them sound correct rather than adding weird artifacts to a dodgy performance! Aside from the vocals, the bass was particularly fun to figure out on this song and sounded great on a fretless! Hopefully you enjoyed what I did with this one, it was not easy to do, but I think I got it in the ballpark... I hope!!
