The Dark Side of Self Improvement
Self improvement can change your life. But there’s a side of it nobody talks about. At some point, improving yourself can quietly turn into punishing yourself. You feel guilty for resting, constantly behind, and nothing ever feels like enough. I’ve realized a lot of people aren’t chasing growth anymore. They’re trying to outrun themselves. Every second has to be productive. Every workout has to mean something. Every day has to “move you forward.” And from the outside, it looks disciplined. But internally, sometimes it’s just anxiety disguised as ambition. I still believe in hard work and discipline. But real growth also means knowing when to slow down, breathe, and actually enjoy your life while building it. Because if self improvement makes you miserable the whole way through… what’s the point?
