He received primary and secondary education in Zimbabwe and then Form Five and Six at Tambaza School in Dar es Salaam and later in 1997 received his first Doctor of Medicine degree by the University of Dar es Salaam. The 55-year-old now went on to study microbiology and immunology at the University of Dar es Salaam to be awarded a second master's degree in 2001. Dr Faustine Engelbert Kakalile, a native of Mbulu village and a native of Kigamboni, entered politics and in 2010 the CCM believed him to fly the flag and win the seat in the 2010 Kigamboni General Election. While in Parliament he was elected and served in various capacities as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Services and Social Development and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on AIDS and Drug Issues. He also served as a member of the Geneva Parliamentary Union (IPU) Advisory Committee on HIV/AIDS, Maternal and Child Health from 2015-2017.
