Julia Hartley Brewer is joined by Phillip Ingram, former senior military intelligence officer, to talk about topical issues of the day.  Nigel Farage unexpectedly resigned on Wednesday, announcing he would stand in the resulting by-election for his Clacton-on-Sea constituency. All other parties have refused to have a candidate stand.  Therefore, the only opposition on the ballot will be a comedian wearing a bin. “The only other candidate is Count Binface, a joke candidate who stands in every election.”  “Nigel has now split the efforts of the party, and the chances are he’s going to lose both elections,” says Phillip. “He is going to lose his mandate.” “Rachel Reeves said: “If he [Farage] wants to spend all summer fighting a bin, let him at it,” Julia says. “You know it’s bad when the Rachel Reeves is having a dig at you.” “If he gets back in he’s going to face the exact same issues.” “He’s miscalculated quite severely,” says Phillip. “We’re not seeing substantial plans from Reform. Nigel is getting things wrong. He doesn’t usually get things wrong.” Julia concurs. “He’s rattled,” she says.  “A lot of people would say he doesn’t want to be Prime Minister.”  Have you got a story?
