Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is located in Kenner, LA, about 15 miles (24 km) west of downtown and the French Quarter. The airport supports passenger, cargo and general aviation operations, serving as a hub for Breeze Airways and a decades-old focus city for Southwest Airlines. MSY offers rental cars through Avis/Budget, National/Enterprise/Alamo and Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty, which are all accessible via free shuttle bus. The airport also has curbside zones for departures and arrivals, as well as for ride shares and other offsite services. Opened in 2019, the new, current MSY terminal hosts more than a dozen domestic and international carriers across 35 gates, with immediate plans for further expansion. It sits directly north of the old terminal, opened in 1959, which still houses administrative offices. MSY has 6 baggage belts, and the gates are accessible by both escalator and elevator from the first floor.
