Scripture passage: 1 Timothy 5:20–21; Titus 3:10–11 There are two easy ways to respond when sin threatens the health of a church: look the other way… or crush the one who has fallen. Neither is love. Neither reflects the grace of Christ. In 1 Timothy 5:19–21 and Titus 3:10–11, the apostle Paul shows us a much more difficult—and much more Jesus-like—way: firm grace. Examine before reacting. Confront without backing down. Set boundaries without shutting the door. Firm grace holds two things at once: clean hands and open arms; a standard that is not lowered and a door that is not closed. Because on the cross, God took our sin seriously and loved us with all His grace. There we learn that the purpose of confrontation is never to destroy, but to restore. Welcome!
