[4K HDR] Lentas from Leontas, Lion is a small town in Southern Crete with two exotic beaches on each side of the Cape Lion. Lentas proper beach on the east side and Dytikos or Dyskos(Western) in the western part of the cape. The small town is built over the ruins of ancient Leben/Lebena which was one of the ports of Gortys, the capital of Crete in Hellenistic and Roman era. Ancient Leben was famous for the sanctuary of Asclepius famous all over the Roman World, visited by Apollonius of Tyana and pilgrims from Greece and Lybia. The cape is named Lion cause has the shape of a Lion, according to a legend was one of the two lioness of the carriage of Goddess Rhea. The ancient name Leben (ΛΕΒΗΝ) derives from archaic and Mycenanean ΛΕFEN-A/ΛΕFAN-A Lioness The beach of Dytikos/Dyskos is a famous nudist beach and while is just a few hundred meters from the other one on the other side of the Cape is more wild and windy, while the beach on the eastern side is always more Calm and serene. Lentas is positioned in the heart of Asterousia Mountains, named after Asterion the mythical King of Crete, father of Minos and husband of Europa.
